We are a small decile 2 rural school in the northern Coromandel, on the shore at Colville Bay, 3 hours drive from Auckland. Our 40 year 1 to 8 students have 2 classrooms, a library block, a literacy room and a separate audiovisual/drama/music building. There is an adventure playground and pool.
Colville is a mountainous area with steep dense bush in the centre of the peninsula and a coastal fringe of pastoral farms and some of our students spend more than an hour on the school bus each way.
The Moehau Range to the north is a noted scenic and conservation area with good populations of kiwi. Waikawau Beach to the east is a stunning 3km long silver beach. The Hauraki Gulf to the west is wonderful area for boaties and fisherfolk.
The school's principle fund raiser, for the last 14 years, has been to host and provide marshals for The Colville Connection mountain bike rally in March each year, with up to 1000 riders.
Colville village has an active tennis club, a very dynamic music club, 2 cafes, a general store and a medical center.
